The sensor consists of two components: a sensor unit and a magnet. When installed on a door or window, it detects when the entryway is opened or closed by sensing the separation between the sensor and the magnet. This allows it to monitor the status of doors and windows effectively.

Yes, the Sensibo Smart Door / Window Sensor is designed to be versatile and can be installed on various types of doors and windows, including sliding, hinged, and casement styles. However, avoid placing the sensor on metal surfaces, as this can interfere with its signal.

Installation is straightforward. Align the sensor unit and the magnet according to the provided guidelines, ensuring they are within 22 mm (7/8 inch) of each other. Attach the sensor unit to the fixed frame and the magnet to the moving part of the door or window. No special tools are required.

When integrated with your HVAC system, the sensor can detect when a door or window is left open and automatically pause heating or cooling to prevent energy waste, thereby contributing to energy savings.

The sensor is low-maintenance. It operates on batteries that typically last between one to five years, depending on usage. Regularly check the battery status and replace them as needed to ensure continuous operation.
